Review for Secrets of the Valley by C.R. Pugh

5 stars for Secrets!!

What a GREAT sequel… Let me just start with that…

Hunted in the Valley introduced us to Ravyn and Thorne, two young warriors of different clans with intriguing pasts. Fate would inevitably bring them together and the threat of their future and their country would intertwine them forever…

In Secrets, the plot thickens. The stakes are higher. Secrets are revealed. Betrayal abounds.

Ravyn loyally journeys back to the place of her nightmares to save a friend. Thorne is forced into making difficult decisions and must return to the Valley where dangers of all kinds lurk in order to seek out Ravyn. I won’t give anything away because I hate spoilers myself, but this sequel had it all- non-stop twists, turns, action, drama and suspense.

I loved getting to go to Peton, Thorne’s village, and meet Thorne’s family. His sisters are as endearing and lovable as he is. I also enjoyed getting to meet Ravyn’s sister, Camellia, too. A whole new side of tough girl Ravyn is revealed and the story of her escape from Terran is seen from a new perspective.

I loved the character development and getting to learn more about each main character as the story progressed. I was intrigued, surprised and couldn’t stop turning the page to see what was coming next.

If you haven’t started this series yet, get it today. You’re going to LOVE it and be as excited as I am for book 3!

5 Stars for Curveball

This second chance romance with a clear baseball theme had me hooked pretty quickly. It was charming, adorably southern and had some good twists.

Charlotte Daniels and Gabriel Gavinwood, such a lovable couple. They start out as high school sweethearts with no cares or worries, aside from protective parents and a rock-solid moral fiber. But that fiber would soon be tested and literally tear them apart as Gabe is drafted into pro-baseball and Charlotte’s life is changed forever… And as fate would have it, they are reunited close to twenty years after their love was ripped apart by a big, life-changing curveball.

Sassy yet sweet Charlotte has carried this dual secret with her all these years, and hot-headed Gabe finds out about it with earth-shattering clarity. Once reunited, the waters are heavily tested as both Gabe and Charlotte rekindle the hot burning flame between them all while trying to bring their family together.

I don’t wanna give away spoilers, so I won’t tell you any more. But believe me when I say this book is funny, heartfelt, dramatic and hot in so many ways. You’ll love the Gavinwoods and Daniels as they pull you into their tale of first love, heartbreak and a second chance to make the past right. I loved this tale and can’t wait until book two comes out, so I can see where Savannah and Jackson are headed.

Review for A Secret Place of Thunder by Patricia D. Adams

Five Stars for A Secret Place of Thunder- Truly biblical

Oh, this book gave me such feels….

Grace Givings is our heroine in this YA Christian fantasy novel that hits home with my Christian upbringing of the end of days, but also is so light-hearted too, it’s a nice seamless balance between a Harry Potter and Legion kinda feel.

I could personally relate to shy yet sassy Grace; she’s your All-American sweetheart that has a major crush on Eli Cole, the high school quarterback, who seems to be just at the edge of her grasp, but not quite within reach. She’s clumsy, awkward and shares a mutual hate with the school bully (warning- evil witch alert) Abby.

There’s more to the little town of Alvin than meets the eye let me tell ya! And more to all these characters than what lies on the surface!

Grace’s journey has only begun when she learns the secret of her true origins and why she’s been having these strange, historically accurate, and very real dreams. She must face true darkness as she embraces her own unique powers and comes into her own as an …actually I won’t spoil it for you- HA HA- you’ll just have to read it to find out ;-)

The battle for mankind has begun as she must protect the prophet and law giver from the evil that desires to bring about the end of days. There’s laughs, romance, drama and suspense as this story takes you on an action-packed ride of biblical proportions. I loved how Patricia took her readers to high school (or BACK to high school) in my case. I love how she depicted Grace’s inner struggles and her journey into finding herself, the descriptions of the training facility and her hometown. It was beautifully and eloquently written and made me feel for the main character in so many ways. I truly enjoyed this fantasy novel and look forward to following this character in The Realm of Duality.

5 stars for Nameless!

This intriguing tale of a woman’s journey to literally find herself will leave you speechless, spellbound and in tears- both of joy and sorrow, but mostly joy ;-)

Open scene with a rainy, cold night in a corn field, alone with bare feet and complete loss of memory- that is where Marni MacRae drops you. From there, the reader is plunged into a mysterious and heart-warming story as Eve tries to remember who she is, as her memory is completely gone. She has awoken in Brighton Valley, Kentucky and is rescued on the road by a handsome and compassionate man, Nick Donovan, who has the patience of Job. His need to protect her is endearing.

Eve was absolutely adorable and brings out the precocious inner child in all of us. Over the course of the story, she meets an array of sweet and lovable characters, including a telling of the beautiful side story of love and loss of Ezra’s. I was taken with the romance, the suspense and the community in this book. It was very beautifully written and depicted.

I loved Nick. He was strong, passionate, and a wonderful hero for the story. I was especially taken with Tuck for obvious reasons…spoiler- he’s a cowboy.

Nameless had all a romance reader could want- suspense, laughs, tears, anguish, love, family and intrigue. I was especially drawn in by the major twists at the end. All in all, I loved it and thoroughly enjoyed how well it was written. Marni MacRae is a great writer and I look forward to reading more of her works.
